Frequently Asked Questions

The FAR-170-2W-RC255 features a Ø170 mm rotary table and is designed for vertical and horizontal applications. It uses an add-on installation mode and belongs to TJR's Multi Spindle Coupled Series, making it suitable for simultaneous multi-spindle 4th- and 5th-axis machining.

The rotary axis provides 360° rotation, while the tilting axis offers a wide -110° to +110° range. This allows the coupled rotary tables to position workpieces at multiple angles for complex multi-axis machining.

The rotary axis uses a Worm & Worm Gear transmission, while the tilting axis uses a Roller Cam transmission. The rotary axis has a 1:90 reduction ratio, and the tilting axis has a 1:60 reduction ratio, providing controlled and precise movement.

The FAR-170-2W-RC255 provides a minimum programmable increment of 0.001°. The rotary axis has 40 arc-seconds indexing precision and 6 arc-seconds repeatability, while the tilting axis provides 60 arc-seconds indexing precision and 8 arc-seconds repeatability.

The rotary axis uses pneumatic clamping at 0.6 MPa / 6 kg/cm², while the tilting axis uses hydraulic clamping at 3.5 MPa / 35 kg/cm². The rotary-axis clamping torque is 304 kgf·m / 31 kgf·m, while the tilt-axis clamping torque is 1,373 kgf·m / 140 kgf·m.

The FAR-170-2W-RC255 can be configured with major CNC servo motor systems including FANUC, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, Siemens, Heidenhain, and Syntec. TJR specifically lists FANUC αiF8 / βis12 and Mitsubishi HG-154 for the rotary axis, and FANUC αiS12 / βis12 and Mitsubishi HG-154 for the tilting axis. TJR also lists Siemens 1FK7063 for both axes.

The rotary axis has a maximum table speed of 44.4 rpm, while the tilting axis has a maximum table speed of 33.3 rpm. TJR notes that the actual operating speed can vary depending on the selected motor.

Each rotary plate supports a maximum workpiece load of 50 kg at 0° horizontal and 40 kg when tilted from 0° to 90°. The allowable horizontal inertia load capacity is 0.28 kg·m².

With the rotary table clamped, the FAR-170-2W-RC255 has an allowable thrust load of 7,358 N / 750 kgf. Its specified axial moment is 1,373 N·m / 140 kgf·m, radial moment is 304 N·m / 31 kgf·m, and driving torque is 177 N·m / 18 kgf·m.

The FAR-170-2W-RC255 features a Ø40H7 mandrel sleeve, Ø40 mm center through hole, and 280 mm horizontal table height. It uses a 12H7 T-slot and 18h7 guide block. The unit has a net weight of 305 kg excluding the servo motors.
